Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, demons, and sinister influences growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor (played by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear out of place, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the team enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
