The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
