Lando Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before sliding over the escape zone, and was lucky to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the quick descending corner approaching the last turn on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th place, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
